isgi has started the progress of working through the newly introduced SAP Micro Vertical program for SAP Business One. This program is designed to create highly focused, complete and easy to implement solutions that meet the needs of a single industry’s requirements. The goal of the Micro Vertical Solution program is to create a SAP branded, easily repeatable sales and delivery process within a vertical where higher volume becomes easier to attain due to market penetration and multiples of reference accounts.

What is a Micro Vertical? A micro vertical is a segment of an industry that is identified down to at least the 4 digit SIC code (or its related NAICS code). As an example, isgi generally targets the Professional Services Industry Vertical which is identified by the 87XX SIC code. For this initiative, isgi has selected the Engineering Services micro vertical, which is the 8711 SIC code. This micro vertical has a base of prospects of 4,300 companies in the $10 to $150 million annual revenue range in the U.S.. In this micro vertical many of these are high-growth organizations looking at implementing ERP solutions to streamline their organizations.

What is a Micro Vertical solution? The first thing to understand is that it is not just the software … it consists of everything that a reselling partner would need to market, sell and install a complete solution within a micro vertical. From a marketing and sales perspective there is a Sales Kit and related materials all published under a single SAP templated theme. The “complete solution” is all the software and tools the customer will need on a single CD; the SAP Business One, required Add-On’s, eLearning, Implementation Tools, Documentation, etc. The preconfigured solution of best-practices will lead to more predictable implementations that become more of a “what’s next” configuration process rather than a “configure and customization” process.

What is will the SAP Engineering Services Micro Vertical Solution include? We plan on delivering two versions to the market; a Standard Edition and an Enterprise Edition.

SAP has put a roadmap in-place that guides the process of bringing these Micro Verticals to market. isgi has started down that path and expect to aggressively pursue this path until it delivers the its first version of the SAP Engineering Services Micro Vertical Solution in late 2007.
